Lettering on the side of a red grain elevator

Scottish Co-Operative Wholesale Society

The Scottish Co-Operative Wholesale Society was founded in 1868 in Glasgow, Scotland.

In 1906, a branch was opened in Winnipeg. Over time the Society built or acquired a network of elevators.

In 1949 the Saskatchewan elevators were sold, and the nine Manitoba elevators were sold to the Pool in 1973 (information from the Manitoba Historical Society).
