Argo

The town of Argo, Saskatchewan had a pair of grain elevators in the early 1950s. The photo above (courtesy of the University of Saskatchewan) shows one of the elevators being moved and turned to become an annex for the remaining elevator.

This use of old elevators as annexes was common. Annexes provided additional storage for grain elevators and were a relatively inexpensive way to add capacity.

Today all that remains of Argo is a road “Argo Road” south of Biggar.
