The town of Yellow Grass, SK had five grain elevators in 1985, but now has none. The last grain elevator, originally a UGG elevator but last owned by Viterra, was demolished in late 2014.

Today there are miniature grain elevators in a town park.

The aerial image above was taken by Howdy McPhail in the 1950s, and is from the University of Saskatchewan collection (here). There are four grain elevators visible:

  • McCabe grain elevator (with Victoria branding)
  • Pioneer grain elevator
  • Searle grain elevator
  • Paterson grain elevator

There were five grain elevators at that time:

  • McCabe grain elevator (with Victoria branding)
  • Pioneer grain elevator
  • Searle grain elevator (now with crib annex)
  • Paterson grain elevator (new elevator)
  • Saskatchewan Wheat Pool elevator

The image below, dated from around 1907, shows a Western Elevator, a North Star, Western Canada Flour Mills #62 and a Winnipeg Elevator Co. elevator.
